Disable Autorun In Windows XP, Vista, 7

This trick will help you in disabling Autorun of USB pen drive. If your drive is infected with viruses, then Autorun should be disabled.
1.Click on Start button. Type 'gpedit.msc' in the Search Box to open the Group Policy Editor.
2.Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components.
3.On the right side of the window double click on "Turn off Autoplay" to turn it off.
4.Click on 'enabled' option of 'Turn off autoplay' and apply it to 'all drives'.

Save the changes to disable the autorun of a pen drive.

Windows 7 Registry Tweaks

Turn Off Aero Snap
Aero Snap is a feature of Windows 7 mainly for better arrangement of the windows on the desktop. When you drag a window to the top of the screen, Aero Snap will automatically maximise it to full size. Similarly, when you drag a window to the left or right portion of the screen it will automatically arrange it to fit in half of the screen size.
You can turn off Aero Snap by the following Registry trick.
1. Open the registry editor by typing 'regedit' in the search box.
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
Scroll down to "WindowArrangementActive" in the right-hand pane, and double-click it to open it.
3. Change the number in the "Value data" field from 1 (Aero Snap is enabled) to 0.
4. Click OK.
This is how Aero Snap is disabled.


Set Time Delay To Aero Peek
Windows 7 has a feature of Aero Peek with which you can directly view the desktop even if you have a number of applications open and executing side by side.

Internet Explorer Trick : Hidden URL shortcuts.

With this trick you can add a shortcut to your favourite URLs in IE but not display them in the Favourites Folder. Here is how you can do it .
1.Open the Registry Editor by typing 'regedit'.
2.Go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES / Software / Microsoft / InternetExplorer / AboutURLs
3. Add a string value with the name of the shortcut you want to use.
4. In the data field, give them the calue of the url you want them to point.(eg http://blogger.com/)
5.In the IE address bar, type about:shortcut_name.

These favourites wont be displayed in the Favourites folder.

IP Tracing:-
IP tracing is said to be one of the most important steps in Hacking a remote system because it gives more information about the system, the host on which resides, the potential weaknesses in the system and so on.
Thus, the first step in attacking a system is the identifying and locating the target. For doing this we need to know the ip address of the system. This is where IP tracing comes into the picture.But before going into details, it is important to understand a few things about ip addresses.

IP Address:-
Every system connected to the internet has a unique address which is called IP address or the Internet Protocol address. Just like the address of your home tells the location the IP address tells the other systems about your location on network. Thus, an IP address identifies your system among the millions of systems connected to the net. Every data packet sent or recieved by your system contains your IP address.

The IP addresses are designed in such a way that you cannot predict the location of the system just by looking at its fields. So, if somebody tells you that the location(or country) of a system is decided, say, by its third field or second field then that is completely false. However there are many tools and sites available which tell you the geograpical information just by entering the ip address.

Windows Registry Tweak : Prevent Changes To Start Menu

Windows Registry Trick : How to prevent changes to the start menu.
This tweak will stop any change done to the Start Menu.
1.Open the Registry Editor.
2.Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer .
3. Add a Dword called NoChangeStartMenu.
4.Set it to Value 1.

Save the changes and Reboot the system for effects to take place. Note : I have tried it on Windows XP, I am not sure about other OS. As always, take a backup of the registry before messing up its values. :)

Windows 7 trick : Remove Thumbnail Preview Time Delay

Hacking Techniques: Phishing Basics

Phishing is another way to hack websites and gain personal data, the first one  the use of Keyloggers,  has been expained in an earlier post.
Phishing, as defined by Wikipedia is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.
In simple terms, a phisher will create an exact duplicate of an original site and make victims think that it is the original one.The victims enter their vital details like credit card numbers, passwords etc which are then used by the phisher.
Very often, the victims are sent emails telling them to update their details of a website with a link to the fake website designed by the hacker which is convincing enough to be the original the users.The reasons given in the emails generally speak of database maintenance, upgradation of the site etc.
Phishers usually target sites having online payment methods and commercial websites like banks where transactions are involved. Phishing requires both extreme skill and social engineering because to create a website exactly like the genuine website is no mean task.

Windows Registry Trick : Customize the System Tray

This tweak using the windows registry will help you customize your system tray.

You can add your name or anything you like that consists of 8 characters or less. This string will replace the AM or PM next to the system time in the system tray.

1. Open RegEdit.
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International
3. Add two new String values, "s1159" and "s2359"
4. Right click the new value name and modify. Entered string should be less than 8 characters.

If you enter two different values when modifying, you can have the system tray display the two different values in the AM and PM.

Please Note that this trick may not work in some trial versions of an operating system.  If you are using a trial version, we recommend you not to do this trick as it may corrupt the system.

Speed up your Start Menu : Windows Registry Trick

Here is another windows registry trick ( or tweak) by which you can spped up your Start Menu.

When you click the Start menu and scroll over the various menu items such as Programs, Accessories etc , there is a time delay after which the contents of the menu are displayed. This time delay value is set to 400 by default .You can change it to 0, which means the contents will be displayed immediately. Or you can change it to any other value based on your level of comfort.
Here is how you can do it.
Open the windows Registry editor.
Go to the following Registry Key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ MenuShowDelay

Setting for Value Data:0
Exit Registry and Reboot to the machine to implement the changes.

Windows Hack : How to Deactivate SHUTDOWN button.

Thus, hacking can sometimes help you get back at your obnoxious friend !.

Here is a trick you can play on your arrogant friend who thinks he is really smart. This hacking trick will deactivate the shutdown button.For this you will have to tweak some values in the Registry Editor.  Here is how you can do it.

==>Open a file add the following text and save it with the extension of .reg

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

"NoClose"="1"


==>Save the file and add the contents of the file to the registry by simply double clicking the file. The shutdown button will be deactivated. To enable shutdown set " NoClose"="0".

Hacking tips : How to break into Facebook, Google, Yahoo account ...

Hacking into a facebook or google or yahoo account is not difficult . In fact it can be achieved in a matter of hours provided the user of the account is an inexperienced fellow ( target guy). There are many ways of hacking into some body's email (gmail ,yahoo etc) account, but fb account can be hacked by using a keylogger.

Windows Registry , Tweaks, Tricks

Most of the tweaks and tricks done on Windows are done by adding or changing the previously set values in the Windows Registry.

How to open Windows Registry.
1. Go to Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type "regedit" and click OK .

Windows tweaks --2 --Change Internet Explorer Background

This tweak can make the Internet Explorer more interesting. This trick is done by using the Windows Registry. You can change the background of internet explorer and windows explorer. You can add an background image of the toolbars of IE and windows explorer.
To do this open the windows registry editor and go to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\Toolbar\.

Now in the right pane create a new String Value and name it BackBitmap and modify it's value to the path of the Bitmap you want to dress it up with by right clicking on it and choosing Modify.

To see the changes you need to reboot the machine.

Windows Xp Tweaks - 1 - change the internet explorer caption.

This Windows Registry tweak will help you in adding a caption of your choice to Internet Explorer.


The following are the steps to change the caption of internet explorer.
Open the registry editor and go to In the right pane create a new String Value named Window Title (Note the space between Window and Title). Right click on this newly created String Value and select Modify. Type in the new caption you want to be displayed( for example firefox :D ). Restart for the settings to take place.

USB HACKING

Have you ever wondered what your friend has stored in his/ her laptop but wont tell you? well here is how you can find out .. :)

USB Hacking , as the name suggests, is the unauthorised and unauthenticated usage of a computer by the means of a usb drive or in simple words a pen drive.
In this , u do not use the operating system of the target computer for booting ( since you do not know the username and password , it wont let you access the files and folders.)
What we can do is use an operating system stored on a  pen drive for booting purposes. Ubuntu is an example of a free software that can be easily loaded on a pc without previously installing it.
So
Step 1 is to copy the setup of Ubuntu OS on a pen drive.
Step 2. Start the pc . press F2 for change in advanced boot settings. Change the priority of booting in the settings page , Keep ' Boot Via USB ' as the first boot option and restart the PC.
Step 3. Insert the pen drive and boot the pc with the OS on the pen drive.
Thus u can easily access the files and folders on the pc without knowing the password. :)

LINUX HACKING,

Hacking linux systems :

Linux systems can be hacked in the following manner. Consider a linux based system which is secured by a user password which you are not aware of.  Even though we do not know the password of the system we can still enter the system. The trick behind this is to change the password of the system to a new password without knowing the old password.

But before you proceed to do that I think that it would be helpful to understand how the linux based security works:

   GRUB – grand unified boot loader :

“GRUB is the reference implementation of the multi boot specification, which enables a user to have multiple operating systems to have on a system and choose which one to run when the pc starts. Grub can be used to select from different kernel images available on a particular partition.” It starts the UNIX kernel  

Run levels in linux –

There are 7 run levels in linux

Run level 0- halt / switch off

Run level 1-single user  mode without networking

Run level 2-with networking

Run level 3-console mode

Run level 4-not used

Run level 5- gui mode with networking

Run level 6 reboot

The following steps are for red hat linux

1>     Start the system and keep pressing down arrow key to stop booting on flash screen. The flash screen is the one where there the system asks u to select the os for booting (windows xp ,linux etc).

2>     Highlight the option of red hat linux

3>     Press ‘e’ – to edit the kernel and change the password

Three options will be displayed . out of the three, select the second option i.e.

/vmlinuz -2.6.18-8. El5 è kernel

4>Press ‘e’ to edit

5>Type 1 .press enter

Press  ‘b’ to boot the machine

4>     Now shell script will be displayed

5>     To change password type ‘passwd’ press enter

6>     Now it will ask to enter new password , so enter your new password

7>     To go in console mode with networking

Init 3. Press enter

Now ,  it will ask for user name and password  . So, now you can login through new password J
